Residential Coordinator Two Full-Time Positions
Summary
Turning Point Advocacy Services is a nonprofit responding to domestic violence, sexual abuse, trafficking, and by providing shelter-based and community-based services to survivors and their children. The agency is located in a confidential location in Warren County and the main service area is Franklin, Gasconade, Lincoln, Montgomery, St. Louis, St. Charles, and Warren Counties.
Under the direction and supervision of the Shelter Manager, the role of the Residential Coordinators is to provide for the immediate safety, shelter, food and clothing needs for clients in Shelter. Residential Coordinators provide 24/7/365 shelter coverage and hotline response in various shifts. The guiding principles of this position are defined within the framework of woman-defined advocacy and respect for the individual woman’s needs and goals.
Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining the safety and security of the shelter and surrounding grounds.
- Provide access to food and other basic necessities for clients in shelter.
- Provide emergency safety planning for residents and for hotline callers.
- Meet individually with the women and children as required or requested.
- Answer the hotline, complete hotline form, provided appropriate referrals.
- Dispatch the on-call person as necessary.
- Understand and be able to utilize all agency policies and procedures to maintain consistent and appropriate services to clients.
- Ensure cleanliness of shelter and immediate grounds.
- Maintain, and help to maintain, confidential all client information, agency policies, and other information as needed and necessary
- Provide assistance with intake and exit process for all shelter residents
- Provide assistance as requested by the Shelter Manager.
General Duties
- Maintains case files, progress notes, hotline logs, action plans. and follow-up plans
- Provide statistical information as required
- Protects client/survivor and staff and shelter location confidentiality as per MO Revised Statute 455.220• Perform other duties as required and requested
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a high school diploma, and at least one year of experience working with survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence, preferably within the emergency domestic violence shelter system
- Sensitivity to the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence
- Understanding of woman-defined advocacy
- Ability to work with people of diverse characteristics including, but not limited to, a variety of ethnic, racial, religious and socio-economic backgrounds and nontraditional sexual orientations and gender identities
- The capacity to remain calm and patient under stressful conditions
- A valid and current Missouri Driver’s License and insurance. Ability to secure a CDL license.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and child abuse and neglect check
- Adept at Microsoft Office products with competent computer skills.
- Exhibit strong follow through on tasks and goals. Good organizational skills
- Ability to work evenings, holidays, and weekends per schedule. Willingness to work shifts/hours outside of regularly scheduled shifts when possible.
Development Coordinator Part-Time
Position Summary:
The Part-Time Development Coordinator supports the fundraising, donor engagement, and community outreach efforts of Turning Point Advocacy Services. This position plays a key role in helping sustain and grow financial support for survivor services through donor stewardship, grant management, event coordination, sponsorship outreach, and community engagement.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Fundraising & Donor Relations:
- Assist with donor cultivation, stewardship, and follow-up communications
- Maintain accurate donor records and gift tracking within donor database systems
- Support annual giving campaigns, sponsorship outreach, and fundraising initiatives
- Prepare acknowledgment letters, donor communications, and thank-you materials
- Assist with identifying prospective donors, sponsors, and funding opportunities
Grant Management & Development
- Assist with grant research, proposal preparation, tracking, and reporting in collaboration with leadership staff
- Support collection of program data, narratives, and supporting materials for grant applications and reports
- Maintain grant calendars, deadlines, and organized funding records
- Support donor and funder communication and relationship-building efforts
Event Coordination & Community Engagement
- Assist with planning and coordination of fundraising events and community outreach activities
- Support sponsorship requests, in-kind donations, and volunteer engagement efforts
- Represent Turning Point Advocacy Services at community events and networking opportunities as assigned
Collaboration & Organizational Support
- Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, board members, and community partners
- Participate in staff meetings and organizational planning efforts as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold trauma-informed, survivor-centered practices in all interactions
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Public Relations, Business, English, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, nonprofit development, or related field preferred
- Demonstrated experience managing grants from application through reporting strongly preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Experience with donor databases, Microsoft Office, Canva, and social media platforms preferred
- Passion for nonprofit work and survivor advocacy
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
Preferred Skills
- Successful track record securing grant funding
- Experience working with community foundations, government grants, and corporate giving programs

Work Environment

Advocate Full-Time
Position Summary
Under the direction and supervision of the Programs Manager, the Advocate is responsible for assisting both shelter-based and community-based survivors with developing safety, stability, and self-sufficiency strategies in the aftermath of domestic and/or sexual violence. The Advocate provides advocacy, support, information, referrals, and accompaniment while helping survivors navigate a variety of systems, including criminal and civil legal systems, social services, healthcare, housing, financial assistance, mental health services, and other community resources.
Primary Responsibilities:
Direct Advocacy & Case Management
- Maintain an active caseload of survivors receiving both LIFE/Court advocacy and recovery-focused support
- Hold regular client meetings to support goal setting, safety planning, budgeting, and resource navigation
- Develop individualized safety plans, follow-up plans, and advocacy checklists
Legal & Systems Advocacy (Court Focus)
- Advocate for survivors within all levels of the civil and criminal legal systems
- Provide accompaniment, transportation, and support for court hearings, legal appointments, and related meetings
- Assist survivors in navigating protective orders, custody matters, criminal proceedings, and other legal processes
- Coordinate referrals and support access to legal resources and victim advocacy services
Substance Use Recovery Support (S.A.R.A. Role)
- Complete SMART Recovery facilitator training
- Provide individualized recovery-focused advocacy sessions upon request
- Support survivors in developing relapse prevention/safety plans and ensuring accessibility to staff when needed
- Assist survivors in identifying coping skills, healing strategies, and recovery goals related to trauma and substance use
General Program Responsibilities:
- Provide intake and exit services as required
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation including progress notes, releases, case files, and statistical reporting
- Ensure confidentiality of all client information in accordance with agency policy and Missouri Revised Statute 455.220
- Provide shelter and hotline coverage as needed
- Serve in on-call rotation as required
- Facilitate support groups as assigned
- Maintain client calendars and ensure follow-up on services and referrals
- Work a varied schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred
- Relevant experience in advocacy, community outreach, social services or program management may substitute for formal education
- Experience working with survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence, preferably within an emergency domestic violence shelter setting is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to varying ethnic, racial, religious, socioeconomic, sexual orientation, and gender identity groups.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Valid Missouri Driver’s License and current automobile insurance. Must obtain a Missouri Class E Driver’s License within thirty (30) days of employment if not already held.
